My favorite is SPLAT ("*" yeah, I know it's asterisk, but splat is so much more descriptive). Also, the octothorpe ("#" it's the pound sign) is not really all that rare. It was the official name for AT&T in the day and may still be used. Pound sign is easier to say. One I didn't know was "strudel" for the at sign ("@"). But, hey, you learn something new every day!
