The Instant in IM

Just because a message gets TO me instantly doesn't mean I need to look at or respond instantly. It seems that people expect that just because they want to interrupt you for their own purposes, you are expected to respond with the same urgency, even if their purpose doesn't currently match theirs. It's especially irritating when someone sends you an e-mail and then IMMEDIATELY sends an IM asking if you got it.
